Shân Monteith-Mann

As an abstract Scottish artist the landscape constantly inspires. From windswept beaches and salty sea blues, to stormy skies and the islands of Scotland, my artworks begins with me, sketching in nature. Having trained at Art School in design, I am intrigued by how deeply we are influenced by our surroundings. Creating calming art, I bring the elements of a natural contemporary outlook to any interior. Working in mixed media including inks and water based paints, my paintings begin in the landscape outdoors, with preliminary studies. I exhibit regularly in Edinburgh and London, and my work has been exhibited at The Royal Scottish Academy.

Art Studio

My Scottish art studio is tucked away behind a hidden, secret door. A white, timber panelled space, it is flooded with natural light from four sky light windows. There are woollen blankets for chilly days and a vintage architect’s drawing board, along with an array of art materials, paints, inks and brushes. I work surrounded by my treasures such as pebbles, grasses, driftwood and sea glass. A beautiful tranquil place to create natural moments of calmness within my artworks.
